JD.com has unveiled a series of new developments over the last year. It showcased many of them when it attended the CES in Las Vegas, NV. The company has introduced a wide variety of new technologies along with many developments to make the company more environmentally friendly. JD.com is the world’s largest retailer, and it delivers billions of packages to over 300 million people in China.
Most of the products are delivered within one or two days. It is part of the company’s initiative to allow customers to buy whatever they want, whenever they want, and wherever they want. That promise requires a huge infrastructure. JD.com is using drones and robot cars to make some of those deliveries. Drones can leave from the plants and deliver to hard to reach areas of China. While the drones are impressive, the new driverless robot cars are the real cutting edge technology that JD.com is already using. Find More Information Here.
In the recent company’s blog “JD Delivery Stations Get Smart Ahead Of CES Debut”, JD has talked about the launch of two smart delivery stations, strengthening the e-commerce giant’s autonomous logistics capabilities.
The program is being used in two cities, Changsha and Hohhot, but JD.com will be expanding it over the next few months. The vehicles can deliver within 5km from their electric charging stations. They can navigate through traffic while avoiding obstacles and following traffic laws. Each vehicle can hold 30 packages, and in a day they can deliver up to 2,000 packages. The drones, the robot vehicles and the hydrogen trucks that JD.com uses are all part of the ‘last mile’ initiative that is moving the company towards a carbon neutral delivery system.
JD is also actively finding new ways to be environmentally conscious and reduce waste and pollution. It is using new biodegradable boxes that can be used ten times. The company has also reduced the amount of tape it uses on packages. The company has made a pledge to work with other companies that are showing they can be environmentally friendly. The new technology and the environmental work are all part of JD.com’s mission to be a leader in the world of e-commerce.
